# Cake Pay

## What is Cake Pay and how does it work?

Cake Pay lets you spend your crypto on gift cards and prepaid cards for 150,000+ merchants, paid for directly from your wallet. There's no bank and no ID — signing up takes nothing but an email address, and cards are sold at face value.

You'll find Cake Pay in the `Apps` tab at the bottom-right of the Cake Wallet home screen. Pick the country where you'll redeem your cards, browse the catalog, sign in with your email, choose a card and amount, and pay the invoice from your Bitcoin, Monero, Litecoin, or Zcash balance. Bitcoin wallets can also pay over **Lightning**, and Litecoin wallets can pay from **MWEB** when MWEB is enabled. Your gift card code and redemption link then arrive by email.

For the full walkthrough, see the [Cake Pay guide](https://docs.cakewallet.com/cake-pay). For specific error messages, see [Why did I get this error?](https://docs.cakewallet.com/faq/errors).

{% hint style="info" %}
Cake Pay purchases are paid with cryptocurrency, which is irreversible, and your wallet is non-custodial. Always send the exact invoice amount, and keep your order ID — it's how support finds your order if anything goes wrong.
{% endhint %}

## I didn't get my Cake Pay verification email

To sign in to Cake Pay you enter your email address, and Cake Pay emails you a one-time verification code. If the code doesn't arrive:

* Check your spam or junk folder, and any "promotions" or "updates" tabs.
* Make sure you typed your email address correctly, then use the option to resend the code.
* Wait a few minutes — email delivery can be delayed.
* Confirm your device has a working internet connection, and try turning off any VPN or Tor connection that might block the request.

If the code still doesn't arrive, contact [Cake Pay support](https://docs.cakewallet.com/support/cake-pay) — via the live chat in Cake Wallet or on the Cake Pay website, or by emailing <support@cakepay.com> — from the same email address you're trying to sign up with.

## My gift card didn't arrive or won't redeem

Most gift cards arrive by email within an hour, but delivery can occasionally take up to a business day. Your code and redemption link are always sent to the email address you used for the order, so you can find them again by searching your inbox.

If your card hasn't arrived, or the code won't redeem:

* Search your email — including spam — for the code and redemption link.
* Some products must be activated on the merchant's website before use. Check the redemption instructions included with your order.
* Confirm you're redeeming in the country you selected at checkout; card stock and redemption rules differ by country.

If it still won't redeem, contact [Cake Pay support](https://docs.cakewallet.com/support/cake-pay) with your order ID and the email you used. Some redemption issues are handled case-by-case, and our support team can look into your specific order and, where needed, escalate it with the card provider on your behalf.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Gift cards are issued by third-party merchants, and their redemption terms and regional restrictions vary. Keep your order confirmation and order ID — they are what support needs to resolve a redemption problem.
{% endhint %}

## The Cake Pay catalog is empty or won't load

If the catalog shows no cards, or won't load at all:

* Check your internet connection, and try turning off any VPN or Tor connection that may be blocking the request, then reopen Cake Pay.
* Make sure you've selected a country — the catalog and available card stock differ per country, and some cards are region-specific.
* Close and reopen `Apps` → `Cake Pay` to refresh the catalog.

If the catalog is still empty after that, contact [Cake Pay support](https://docs.cakewallet.com/support/cake-pay) and let us know your country and connection details so we can investigate.

## I was charged but didn't receive my card

First, give it a little time. Your payment needs to confirm on the blockchain, and gift cards usually arrive by email within an hour but can take up to a business day. Check the email address you used for the order — including spam — for the code and redemption link.

If your payment has confirmed and the card still hasn't arrived, contact [Cake Pay support](https://docs.cakewallet.com/support/cake-pay) with:

* Your order ID
* The email address you used for the order
* The transaction ID (TXID) of your payment

Contact us from the same email you used to place the order. Our support team can look up your order and payment and make it right — including issuing the card or, where eligible, a refund. Not every order is refundable, so refunds are handled case-by-case per the Cake Pay terms.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.cakewallet.com/faq/cake-pay.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
