Dogecoin

Official Website: dogecoin.com

Dogecoin (DOGE) is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency that started in 2013 as a lighthearted take on Bitcoin, built around the Shiba Inu "Doge" meme. It has since grown into one of the most widely used cryptocurrencies for tips and small payments, with fast blocks and very low fees.

Seed Format

Cake Wallet creates Dogecoin wallets with a 12-word BIP39 seed by default. You can choose a 24-word seed instead when creating a wallet, and you can add a seed passphrase, both under Advanced Settings. Both seed lengths are supported when restoring.

The derivation path used is m/44'/3'/0'.

Your BIP39 seed can be shared with your other Cake Wallet currencies as part of a wallet group.

Addresses

Cake Wallet generates new Dogecoin addresses after each use for better privacy. Previous addresses continue to work.

Your Dogecoin address starts with the letter D, followed by a series of alphanumeric characters (a P2PKH, or "pay to public key hash", address).

Fees

Dogecoin network fees are paid in DOGE. Cake Wallet offers three fee levels:

  • Slow: Cheaper but may take longer to confirm.

  • Medium: Recommended for most transactions. Balanced speed and cost.

  • Fast: Expensive but confirms quickly.

We recommend the Medium fee level under normal conditions for a good balance of speed and cost. There is no Custom fee option for Dogecoin — that is Bitcoin-only.

Coin control

Dogecoin supports coin control, which lets you choose exactly which coins (unspent outputs) you spend in a transaction. This gives you finer control over your privacy and your fees.
